THEMES

It’s the month of

HOMEWORK & DAILY READING

Please be sure that your child is reading nightly.  Also, please continue to help your child review and practice their math facts and spelling lists.  Sharing is also an integral part of oral speaking and participation.  Please encourage your child to check the calendar in order to bring something in for their “sharing day”.  Congratulations for all your hard work to date!

SCHOLASTIC BOOKS

This month’s Scholastic book orders will be due on Thursday September

RECONCILIATION REMINDER

The penitent ritual for Reconciliation begins with the sign of the cross and then saying,

“Bless me Father, for I have sinned, this is my first confession.”

The Act of Contrition that the Grade 2 children have been learning is:

“God, I am sorry for all my sins; for what I have done and for what I have failed to do.

I will sincerely try to do better.

Help me to walk by your light.

Amen.”

Be sure to connect with St.Mary’s Parish at 728-2985 so that your child can receive this special sacrament this year.  Father Frank has March 6asReconciliation Day.

SHARING

This month, the children have a special day to share their "ALL ABOUT ME"boxes.  Eventually, they will be bringing in an item to share.  They should be able to answer the questions: who? what? where? when? why?how?

LITTERLESS/TURN-AROUND LUNCHES

The Good Shepherd School students areasked to bring reusable lunch and drink containers to school and organicfood waste will go home for your green bins.  Milk containers will berecycled here at school.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

SPELLING LISTS

EXTRA “HOME” WORK

I realize that your child works hard for several hours during the day. If there happens to be a spare moment during the evening, your child could/should be doing some extra “home”work:

1. SPELLING DRILLS

Your child has been given spelling words or lists to study.  Please have your child review the list as frequently as possible so that they are prepared for their test on Friday.  These words will benefit their daily writing.

2. ADDITION FACTS

Your child should be practicing their Math facts regularly.

3. READING/BOOK BUDDY

Your child should read for at least fifteen minutes an evening. When they have completed their book, they are required to document what they have read in their Book Buddy Reading Log duo tang.

4.  PRINTING

Your child should be practicing their printing regularly.

HAVE FUN!
